Steve earned a Bachelor's degree from University of California, Berkeley and studied international economics at American University. He began his career in technology in 1990, working in networking and security for companies including Bechtel, Cohesive, 3Com, Good, and Exodus.

In 2003, Steve started Cobaltix. Since then, many of Steve’s clients started asking for not just security services, but also for compliance work, so in 2015, he decided to branch out with Cameron Bellamy's help, creating Cobaltix Compliance to address these financial compliance and regulatory needs.

In addition to running Cobaltix and working with Cameron on Cobaltix Compliance, Steve has been helping excellent organizations expand their reach.  His work with Zanmi Lakay in Jacmel, Haiti, has provided street kids with laptops and computer skills as well as sponsorships to attend school. Steve also works with Immaculate Conception Academy and the Bay Area Discovery Museum, where he donates time and services for IT systems and technology.

Steve also enjoys ultra-marathon, cold-water swimming. He is working to complete the Oceans7  and trains in the San Francisco Bay. Above water, Steve lives in Lafayette, California with his wife, Sue, and their three kids.
